President of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych addressed with letters to the UN and UNESCO with a request to announce year 2014 as International Year of Taras Shevchenko.

 According to an UNIAN correspondent, he said this opening the sitting of the Public Humanitarian Council today.

According to the words of V. Yanukovych, in order to reach this goal it is necessary to carry out a big propagandistic work.
