Korshunova and Landik signed an "amicable agreement." 09.11.2011
Court leaves Landik under arrest

Leninsky District Court in Luhansk has refused to change the measure of restraint for Luhansk City Council Deputy Roman Landik, who has been charged with beating up model Mariya Korshunova.

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that at a session on Tuesday, the court rejected respective petitions by his defense team.

At a preliminary hearing of a criminal case opened against Landik, the court considered petitions from the defense teams of the defendant and the victim.

During the hearing, the defense team of the injured party also called for the measure of restraint for Landik to be changed to one not related to arrest. Korshunova's lawyer said that "Landik's family is suffering."

In addition, the court also ruled that the consideration of the case in essence would begin on November 17.

As reported, Landik was filmed beating up Korshunova in a restaurant in Luhansk late on July 4, 2011.

On July 7, the prosecutor's office of Luhansk region opened a criminal case against Landik on charges of disorderly conduct (Part 3 of Article 296) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

On August 11, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office satisfied a request from the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office of July 19 to extradite Landik to Ukraine in order to call him to account.

On September 27, Leninsky District Court in Luhansk decided to arrest Landik for two months.

Late in October, Korshunova and Landik signed an "amicable agreement."
